The Memorial has been run and won for 2013, and we have new winners inscribed in the Perpetual awards for this growing race.
Men's A Grade - The Damian McDonald Memorial
James Pane (BrunswickCC/ Kosdown), an U19 rider who continues his rise amongst the ranks of Victoria's best, beat a class field by risking a break-away with two others.
Breaching the Skyline climb together with Floris Goisinnen (Drapac) and Tyler Spurrell (AWS), Goisinnen, the 2012 Melb-to-Warnnambool champion, popped a spoke and couldn't continue, while Spurrell over-cooked it on the last corner into Eildon. Pane, having worked hard to stay out front, had time to savior a sweet victory on a familiar course which he excelled at in 2012, where he won the B Grade race as a top-age Junior 17 rider.

Sunday's race capped off, for many riders, a back-to-back weekend of racing all over Victoria, even in Southern NSW. Eildon did not disappoint, with it's great road-racing circuit again proving popular. The weather and stunning surrounding mountains provided a dramatic backdrop to what would be a great Memorial race.
Jason Spencer (BudgetForklifts) out-sprinted younger brother Trevor for the win in a hard-fought A-Grade Mens race. Andy Christie (bikebug.com) had the better of Mitchell Barry (Quickcycle) in the first chase-group, taking the final podium spot, after sharing a powerful two-man break for the majority of the race. A Blackburn CC clean-sweep.
Thanks must go to the army of volunteers who assisted with race-entry, traffic set-up, traffic management, rider marshals, lead-, follow-, sag-cars and commissaires cars.
